Blackpool Air Show returns to the seaside skies

Blackpool Air Show returns to the resort this weekend featuring a Battle of Britain Memorial Flight, wingwalkers and the Red Arrows display team.

The Arrows will open the free event on the seafront on Saturday and provide the closing finale on Sunday.

There will also be displays on both days by the RAF Typhoon display team and civil and military flying machines.

At the Air Show Village on the Tower Festival Headland visitors will be able to climb into the cockpit of a Hawk jet and get a taste of what it is like to be a Red Arrows pilot.

The air show dates back to 1909

There will also be an opportunity to meet the ground crew of some of the aircraft and meet serving members of the forces.

Last year, the air show, which dates back to 1909, attracted an estimated 350,000 people to the Promenade over the two days.
