Country house remains closed over water concerns

One of Derbyshire's most famous stately homes will remain closed over fears its water supply could be contaminated.

Kedleston Hall has been closed to visitors since 10 October as investigation work continues into the water quality at the site.

The National Trust, which runs the 18th Century mansion house, said it closed the site "as a precaution" after a routine check found there could be bacteria in its water.

The trust said it was still not able to confirm when the property will reopen.

A spokesperson said: "We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause and thank people for their patience while we work through this issue.

"We ask that anyone planning to visit checks our website for updates."
