Kent Fire & Rescue Service said four crews were sent to the scene, where they needed to use breathing apparatus while extinguishing the blaze.

National Highways South East said lane two of the coastbound carriageway has since reopened between junction one and junction two, in a post to X, formerly Twitter.

They added lane one remains closed for the recovery operation.
