Public meeting to be held over Godstone sinkholes

Godstone Parish Council has announced a public meeting to be held on Tuesday to discuss the sinkholes which first appeared in the village early on 18 February.
The meeting will be held at 18.30 GMT at St Nicholas Youth Centre, and led by the council's chief executive, David Ford, and leader, Catherine Sayer, with representatives from Surrey County Council Highways and Surrey Police.
Over the weekend, the council reported that the huge sinkhole was swallowing up even more road, threatening homes, cars and gardens.
The parish council said an operation by Surrey Highways to investigate the two holes had had to be delayed until next week due to safety concerns.
SES Water says it has now restored supplies to properties, but says the water may now be discoloured.
