New CCTV to deter crime and antisocial behaviour

A council has installed three new CCTV cameras to deter crime and anti-social behaviour.

The new devices, in Meon Vale near Stratford-upon-Avon, will help provide authorities with information from the area around Camden Road, Wellington Avenue and playing fields by Bailey Avenue.

Stratford-on-Avon District Council's CCTV monitoring service operates 24/7 and can be used to respond to live incidents as well as providing evidence for court cases.

The authority said it had also helped look after vulnerable people when there were concerns about their welfare.

Councillor Natalie Gist, portfolio holder for law and governance, said: "Crime prevention and reduction is a top priority for residents in Stratford-on-Avon district, and we work hard to deliver this.

"The increased camera technology at Meon Vale should reassure residents as a very positive step forward."
