Current inter-island ferry service 'not healthy'
A Guernsey arts charity boss has labelled the island's new ferry service to Jersey as not healthy.
Russ Fossey, of Guernsey Arts, made the comment due to the current ferry schedule only offering one return leg journey per week on Wednesdays.
He said: "All the travel really happens over the weekends; that's the time when the audience comes out, that's the time people have off work.
"So it is a weekend activity. Wednesday doesn't look too healthy for us."
'Maximise travel'
Mr Fossey added: "At the moment we have half a picture: we know what Guernsey is doing.
"We will have to wait and see what Jersey does."
Last month, Guernsey chose Brittany Ferries, the parent company of current operator Condor, to run its services for the next 15 years.
The Government of Jersey is currently running a new tender process to find an operator for its sea links.
Mr Fossey has also called for more travel between the Channel Islands, as well as from the UK and France.
"For me, we need to maximise travel from wide and far, but also it is really important we maximise inter-island travel.
"The bailiwick and the Channel Islands has so much potential for more movement."
