Plans for 212 homes on school site submitted

Plans for a 212-home development on the site of a former school have been submitted.
A mixture of houses, bungalows and apartments have been proposed for the site of the Phoenix School in Dawley, Shropshire, which was demolished after it closed in 2013.
The development will also include community allotments, a play area and improvements to the road network.
The planning application has been submitted on behalf of Telford and Wrekin Council, which said the new homes would "meet the needs of local families".
Councillor Richard Overton, the authority's deputy leader, said the development would "have a real sense of community at its heart".
"This is a key milestone in our ambitions to develop a sustainable scheme which can serve the needs of our local community in Dawley," he added.
The council said a decision on the planning application was expected this summer and, if approved, work on the development would start later this year.
