Police described Ameysford Roundabout as a "very busy stretch of the A31"

A man has died in a crash at a roundabout on a busy stretch of road in Dorset.

It happened at the Ameysford Roundabout on the A31 in Ferndown at about 20:45 GMT on Saturday.

A 43-year-old man, from West Sussex, who was driving a white Peugeot 308, died in the collision.

The road remained closed overnight while officers examined the scene.

Sgt Richard Stroud, of Dorset Police, said: "Our thoughts go out to the family and friends of the man at this difficult time and we have specially trained officers supporting them.

"This incident occurred on a very busy stretch of the A31 and I understand there were a number of motorists in the area who may have seen what happened."

He asked witnesses and anyone with relevant dashcam footage to contact the force.
