Jurors in the trial of a couple accused of conspiracy to murder in a case dating back more than 40 years have retired to consider their verdict.

Allen Morgan, 73, and Margaret Morgan, 75, who have since married, deny hiring a hitman to kill his then wife Carol in Linslade, Leighton Buzzard, in August 1981.

Her body was found in the storeroom of the shop she ran in the Bedfordshire town on 13 August 1981.

The couple, of Stanstead Crescent, Woodingdean, Brighton, have been on trial at Luton Crown Court for the past eight weeks.

Justice Martin Spencer called on the jury of seven men and four women to deliver a unanimous verdict in the case.
