Scottish Borders to host Tour of Britain Men's cycle race
The Scottish Borders and Kelso will be hosting the opening stage of the Lloyds Bank Tour of Britain Men's cycling competition.
The world's top cyclists will descend on Kelso on 3 September for the 20th edition the cycle race.
The last time the tour visited Kelso was in 2019 when Italian Matteo Trentin cycled his way across Kelso's cobbled market square to victory.
Scottish Borders councillor Scott Hamilton said: "I am delighted that we have been able to work with British Cycling to bring some of the world’s top cyclists back to the Borders for the Tour of Britain."
The Scottish Borders have been a mainstay for the tour since 2011, with full stages having taken place there in both 2019 and 2022.
The South of Scotland was recognised last year by the Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI) as a UCL Bike region.
The label supports and reward cities and regions which host major UCI cycling events but also invest in developing community cycling.
