About 2,400 Aberdeen residents have been facing disruption to their water supply due to serious damage to a water main.

Scottish Water said a 15-inch (40cm) burst was discovered on Riverside Drive, which left part of the area flooded and the road closed.

It said the AB10 and AB12 postcode areas had been affected.

Scottish Water said that as repairs were carried out customers could experience no water supply and low or intermittent pressure. It added that there were no plans to supply bottled water to residents with repairs already in progress.

Aberdeen City Council said Riverside Drive had been closed between Riverside Place and Riverside Terrace while repairs were carried out.

It said local diversions were in place but drivers were asked to take an alternative route and avoid the area.
