Exeter's Business Improvement District (BID) has been reapproved for a further five years by the city's business leaders.

The not-for-profit organisation goes under the name of InExeter and sees more than 650 firms provide £2.8m of funding through a proportional levy.

The organisation receives about £600,000 per year to fund the christmas lights, additional street cleaning, floral displays and to help to curb anti-social behaviour in the city centre.

A total of 334 businesses participated in the recent vote, with 90% supporting the renewal of the organisation.

Nicola Wheeler, CEO InExeter, said: "Small businesses will be paying quite considerably less than larger businesses"

Nicola Wheeler , CEO of InExeter, said her organisation was thrilled to be able to help the city centre remain vibrant in 2025.

"This is about businesses saying 'we care about the city of Exeter, we want to see it continue to improve'.

"In terms of the levy, it is a proportional amount based on the rateable value.

"Small businesses will be paying quite considerably less than larger businesses and our job is to make sure that we deliver value for every single one of the 670 businesses that we represent."
