Plans to provide new and improved indoor and outdoor sports and leisure facilities in Truro have taken a step forward.

The planning application for the Boscawen Park Sports Hub building has been formally submitted to Cornwall Council.

Led by Truro City Council and funded by Truro Town Deal, the project would see the construction of a new multi-use building incorporating new changing facilities, as well as flexible indoor spaces suitable for indoor sports and other activities.

Town clerk David Rodda said if approved, the facility was expected to open by March 2026.

The Truro Town Deal board successfully bid for funding worth £23.6m to support a range of regeneration projects, the Local Democracy Reporting Service said.

Mr Rodda said: "This is a truly defining stage for Boscawen Park Sports Hub and I urge local people to take a look at our plans and support the scheme which will bring new sports facilities to residents.

"The original design of the building has been amended but the overall aims of the project remain the same and I cannot wait to see local people enjoying their new facilities."
