Fire station broken into for second time this year

A fire station in Cheshire has been broken into twice this year, according to police.

Officers said high value equipment used for emergencies was stolen from Audlem Fire Station, on Shropshire Street, on Tuesday.

It follows another incident earlier in the year, they said.

The latest break-in happened between 22:00 BST on Monday and 07:00 on Tuesday.

Matt Barlow of Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service said the equipment stolen was used to rescue people in serious vehicle crashes.

"To say we are disappointed and shocked by this act, which targeted an emergency service, is an understatement," he said.

He added: "Thankfully, this incident did not impact our ability to attend 999 calls."

Police have appealed for anyone with CCTV or dashcam footage to contact them.
