Hunt for Good Samaritans after railway track rescue

A woman who fell onto the tracks at a railway station wants to find the two men who pulled her to safety so she can thank them.

Janet Burr was on her way to meet friends in London when she lost her footing and fell backwards onto the tracks at Cheshunt station in Hertfordshire.

Two members of the public jumped to her rescue and carried her back to the safety of the platform before she was taken to hospital.

Her son Ian said: "She wants to thank them. They put their lives at risk to save her and they don't even know her."

The strangers did not leave any contact details following the drama, which happened between 10:30 and 11:00 GMT on Saturday.

Mrs Burr – who is in her 60s – "lost her footing and did a backward somersault off the platform onto the tracks", according to her daughter-in-law Anita.

She added: "They didn't give it a second thought. Not all heroes wear capes. We'd love to track them down and thank them personally."

Rail operator Greater Anglia has shared a post on X from Anita Burr trying to locate the two men.

Mrs Burr remains in hospital but is "doing fine".
