Lorry fire closes part of M45 for several hours

Emergency services were called to the motorway, to the south of Rugby

The westbound section of the M45 has reopened after being closed for about seven hours following a lorry fire.

Northamptonshire Fire and Rescue Service said it attended the motorway between junction 17 of the M1 and the A45 for Dunchurch, Warwickshire, at about 00:00 GMT.

National Highways said the road reopened at about 07:30 after the lorry was removed.

It thanked motorists for their patience.
