A woman sustained potentially life-changing injuries and a teenager has been seriously injured in a crash involving three vehicles near Wadebridge, police have said.

Devon and Cornwall Police said a Mercedes car, a light goods vehicle (LGV) and another unidentified LGV were involved in a crash on the A389 near St Issey at about 08:25 GMT on Tuesday.

The force said a woman in her 30s, the driver of the Mercedes, was taken to hospital and the young girl, a passenger in the same vehicle, was taken to Royal Hospital Cornwall then on to Bristol Children's Hospital.

Police said the driver of the unidentified white LGV left the scene before emergency services arrived.

Two other children in the car sustained minor injuries, as did the driver of the white Isuzu, the force added.

Officers have appealed for witnesses to come forward.
