Seven police officers injured in assaults

A man and a woman have been charged after seven police officers were assaulted in separate incidents in Londonderry.

A 25-year-old man has been charged with three counts of assault on police and a charge of disorderly behaviour after an incident in the Waterside in the early hours of Wednesday, police said.

A woman aged 33 has been charged with attempted grievous bodily harm with intent, assault occasioning actual bodily harm, two counts of assault on police and criminal damage after an incident in the Cityside which also happened in the early hours of Wednesday.

She is due to appear in the city's magistrates' court on Thursday, while the man is due to appear at the same court on 12 March.

"As is usual procedure, all charges will be reviewed by the Public Prosecution Service," a police spokesman said.
