A 16-year-old boy has been charged with murder after a man was fatally stabbed in Leicester.

Police said Louis Howard, 35, died at the scene after officers were called to a house in Oakdale Close, Braunstone Frith, shortly after 22:40 BST on Wednesday. A post-mortem examination confirmed he died from a stab wound.

The teenager, who cannot be named due to his age, is scheduled to appear at Leicester Magistrates' Court on Saturday.

A 32-year-old woman arrested on suspicion of murder and a 33-year-old woman held on suspicion of assisting an offender have been released on police bail.

Following previous contact with police, a mandatory referral has been made to the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC).

In a statement, Mr Howard's family said: "Louis was a beloved son, gentle giant, faithful father, best brother and uncle in the world. He has been ripped from us cruelly and our hearts are forever shattered."

Police are continuing to appeal for witnesses, information, and are particularly keen to speak to anyone who saw anyone entering or leaving the property and may have captured their moments on a CCTV, doorbell or dashcam camera.
