A busy road in Staffordshire was closed by police after a car towing a caravan caught fire.

The blaze happened on the A53 Leek Road in Stockton Brook.

Fire crews from Hanley and Leek were called at about 13:30 BST to attend to the vehicles, which were billowing thick black smoke.

The road between Stockton Brook and Endon was shut by police due to the volume of traffic while firefighters put out the flames.

The route has since reopened.
