David Peter Roberts, 51, was found dead in his room at Miranda House in Hull

A man who died in a NHS mental health unit took his own life, an inquest jury has found.

David Peter Roberts, 51, was found hanged in his room at Miranda House in Gladstone Street, Hull, on 14 August 2023.

Hull Coroners' Court heard Mr Roberts had "severe" mental health issues dating back to when he was 21.

He went to Miranda House after being taken to Hull Royal Infirmary on 8 August after a breakdown triggered by the recent death of his father.

The jury was told that Mr Roberts lived with his father and was worried about the future on his own.

After an incident at the unit which required police to be called, Mr Roberts was detained under the Mental Health Act.

He was discovered dead in his room by staff during a morning check.

The jury ruled his death was suicide.
