Funding for air acrobatics was reduced at last year's display

The most recent Jersey International Air Display was cut back because its government subsidy was reduced to £40,000, accounts have revealed.

Organisers had been hoping for £60,000, as had been granted in 2023, but were not able to convince ministers in negotiations.

It meant they spent less on aircrafts for September's show than the previous year and were not able to put on a static display at Lower Park.

Organiser Mike Higgins made an appeal for funding last year due to the tighter budget.

The event usually attracts volunteers from the UK to help with safety and administration, but fewer of them came last year – resulting in lower accommodation costs for organisers.

Accounts for 2024 showed the event made a loss of £550, with fundraising efforts already in the works for this year's event.
