Woman dies after 'accidental' flat fire

A woman in her 80s has died following a fire in a ground floor flat, a fire service has said.

Cambridgeshire Fire and Rescue Service said it was called at about 11:07 GMT on Thursday to Malletts Road in Cherry Hinton, Cambridge.

Two crews from Cambridge and the south roaming fire engine attended the incident, which they said was started in a bedroom.

The service said the fire was believed to have been caused accidentally by smoking materials.
