String of farm burglaries in Mid Ulster

A number of high value machinery were stolen in the Dungannon and Aughnacloy areas of County Tyrone

A number of properties have been burgled in the Mid Ulster area in September and October, police have said.

In the Dungannon and Aughnacloy areas of County Tyrone, a number of high value machinery have been stolen, including a tractor and quad bikes.

The burglaries are believed to have occurred between 26 September and 11 October.

The PSNI are investigating a potential link between the incidents.

Sometime between 22:00 (BST) on Wednesday 25 September and 08:00 on Thursday 26 September, a number of power tools and a television were taken from a property in the Whitelough Road area of Aughnacloy.

At some point between 21:00 on Thursday 26 September and 07:00 on Friday 27 September, it was reported that a topsoil screening machine was taken from an outbuilding in the Legilly Road area of Dungannon.

Police also received a report shortly before 08:20 on Monday 30 September of damage to an excavator that was parked in the Whitelough Road area of Aughnacloy.

A red Honda quad bike was also stolen from the Glencrew Road area of Aughnacloy sometime between 17:00 on Sunday 29 September and 08:00 on Monday 30 September.

In the Curlagh Road area of Aughnacloy, a greaser and a strimmer were stolen from an outhouse sometime between Friday 27 September and Monday 30 September.

Another green Yamaha quad bike was also stolen from the Dunmacmay Road area of Aughnacloy shortly after 03:50 on Wednesday 9 October.

A John Deere Gator 855D was stolen from the Dunmacmay Road area of Aughnacloy sometime between 21:45 on Thursday 10 October and 07:45 on Friday 11 October.

A Spectra site-level and Dewault router were also stolen from an outbuilding in the area.

A set of aluminium step ladders and a Stihl leaf blower were taken from an unoccupied farm building located at the Derrycourtney Road area of Aughnacloy sometime between 15:00 on Thursday 10 October and 09:00 on Friday 11 October.

'Be vigilant'

The PSNI are asking the local community to be vigilant when securing their property in rural areas.

They appeal to anyone with any information in relation to these incidents to contact them.
