Dad of 14-year-old killed in M6 crash in court

The father of a 14-year-old boy who was killed in a crash on the M6 has appeared in court charged with causing death by dangerous driving.

Ryan Liam Morgan, from Morecambe, Lancashire, died on 20 April after the Peugeot van in which he was a passenger left the southbound carriageway between junctions 34 and 33 and crashed into a tree.

His father Daniel Burba, 31, suffered serious injuries in the crash and was taken to hospital but has since been discharged.

Mr Burba, of Arnside Crescent, has also been charged with causing death by driving whilst unlicensed and uninsured. He was remanded to appear at Preston Crown Court on 27 May.

A tribute issued by Ryan Liam's family described the teenager as "our precious boy".

They added: "There truly is no-one like our Ryan, such a beautiful soul and so far from typical.

"Words can't express how much we have loved and cherished him and how much we always will."

No other vehicles were involved in the incident, said Lancashire Police.
