Bus firm refuses £5 notes after fake cash incidents
A bus company said it had stopped accepting £5 notes from passengers after drivers reported being given fake cash.
Sanders Coaches said there had been 26 incidents, mostly in the North Walsham, Cromer and Sheringham area of Norfolk, since Friday.
The company said on social media that it took the decision, which would remain in place until further notice, "to protect our drivers, our revenue and to prevent us handing you a fake one back".
The firm said it had reported the matter to police.
"You are welcome to pay with other cash or use contactless card, but we ask you co-operate with us on this matter," the statement added.
"Please also do not be offended if our drivers check any other cash you present to them, this is an instruction from the company to be extra vigilant."
Norfolk Police was approached for comment.
