The owner of a home on the Isle of Sheppey has spoken of the moment a BMW car hit her property.

Kent Police said the driver suffered minor injuries when his vehicle left the road and crashed into the side of the house in The Broadway, Minster-on-Sea, at about 07:55 GMT.

Homeowner Natalie Jacobs said: "I was sat on the floor with my son brushing his teeth, when suddenly I heard a bang."

The car broke through a brick wall before hitting the property, smashing windows.

The occupants of the house escaped serious injury.

Ms Jacobs told BBC Radio Kent: "My son was covered in glass.

"I had to brush it all off him before picking it up as I did not want any of it digging into him and damaging him anymore.

"He has a tiny cut to his head, but other than that he is happy."

She says she has been allowed back into her house to get essential supplies, but plans to stay with relatives until it is repaired.

Kent Police said the damaged vehicle would be removed from the scene.
