A charity offering financial support to students aged 16 or over in Guernsey has been launched.
Higher and technical education organisation The Guernsey Institute (TGI) said it had set up Enriched which aimed to provide additional help to students "reach their full potential".
It said funding would be available to help cover the costs of activities such as trips, purchasing equipment, getting ready for employment or setting up a charity fundraising project would could develop further skills for them.
TGI said students one of its post-16 course or apprenticeship could apply for the funding.
'Achieve their goals'
Louise Misselke, TGI college principal and Enriched's chair, said there were students who were suffering financial hardship and needed to be helped.
Ms Misselke said: "We aim to support such post-16 students across TGI's provision to fully engage in education and achieve their potential.
"Enriched will provide funds that will support students to ensure they have the best opportunities possible and help them to be fully ready for the world of work when they complete their qualification."
Enriched's secretary Jayne Ozanne added the charity wanted to give students the "best start in life possible".
"These students are working hard to achieve their goals, but many need support to reach their full potential," she said.
