Two more men have been arrested in an attempted murder investigation in Rotherham.

Police were called to a collision on Fitzwilliam Road at 16:40 BST on 24 May in which a man, 48, was found with life-altering injuries believed to have been caused by a vehicle.

The pedestrian was taken to hospital where he remains in a critical condition. A 22-year-old man was charged with attempted murder on Tuesday.

On Thursday, two more men, aged 25 and 27, were arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender and fraud, according to South Yorkshire Police.

Both have been released on police bail pending further enquiries.

Earlier, Marcin Chroback, 22, of Bawtry Road, Rotherham, was charged with attempted murder and remanded into custody.

He will next appear at Sheffield Crown Court on 25 June.

Police previously arrested another man, 45, on suspicion of attempted murder and he remains on bail.

A woman, 25, who was also previously arrested on suspicion of attempted murder has since been released with no further action.

Det Insp Matthew Bolger, who is leading the case said: "We have made several arrests in connection with this incident as our investigation continues.

"We are still interested in hearing from anyone who might have CCTV or dashcam footage from the Eastwood area at the time of the incident.

"We are especially looking at the movements of a grey VW Golf and a blue Skoda."
