Feral cat finally caught in 'another' owl nest box
A feral cat which gave birth to kittens in an owl nest box last year has "finally" been humanely trapped.
Sue Vidamour, who rescued the kittens in Guernsey, said after "many weeks and lots of patience", the animal was located in another owl box at the same site.
Mrs Vidamour, who has been rescuing animals for more than 25 years, said 'Mummy cat' was taken to the vet to have a full health check on Tuesday and had since been neutered.
"The homemade owl box was 6m (20ft) up a pine tree," Mrs Vidamour said.
"We have been trying to catch her since last year, but she has a big wide range of territory. I set traps all over the place for months but there was no sign.
"Thanks to the vigilance of Andy and Sue, who live on the property, she was seen going into another owl box on the property with a camera in."
Mrs Vidamour said she was "delighted" to see the cat had not given birth again and set-up a humane trap.
"I feel over the moon because she has been a worry for me," she said.
The cat has been microchipped, bathed and given flea and worming treatment.
Mrs Vidamor added: "Hopefully when she goes back to Sue and Andy she will settle, and they will carry on feeding her.
"Our hope is she will become domesticated and go in the house to seek shelter.
"It would be nice because she will be taken care of because they still get problems, so they need as much care as a sick cat."
