Views sought on new £500m mental health centre
People are being asked for their views on plans to develop a Grade II listed mental health hospital into a £500m centre for mental health and brain sciences.
Warneford Hospital in Headington, Oxford, has been described as "no longer fit for purpose" by Oxford Health NHS Foundation Trust.
It said proposals for the centre, to be called Warneford Park, include a new mental health hospital, a modern facility for brain research and a post-graduate college for the University of Oxford.
Several public exhibitions showing the plans will take place from 5 - 7 December.
Warneford Hospital, which opened in 1826, is the oldest inpatient unit still in use across the NHS.
In 2016 the Care Quality Commission described wards at the hospital as "outdated".
The Meadow Unit, a mental health facility to treat young people, opened on the site last year, designed to help children experiencing a serious mental disorder receive treatment closer to home.
The trust said the exhibitions would take place at the hospital's day centre on Thursday 5 December from 1600-1900 GMT, Friday 6 December from 1300-1800 and Saturday 7 December from 1000-1300.
