Householders in Surrey are being urged to pool resources to make it easier to install environmental improvements.

Surrey Heath Borough Council is offering homeowners the opportunity to invest in solar panels, battery storage and electric vehicle charging points.

The council is aiming to become net zero by 2030 and wants the whole borough to follow suit by 2050.

Across Surrey 2,250 households have used the group buying scheme since 2021.

Morgan Rise, Surrey Heath's portfolio holder for net zero, environment and leisure, said: “The previous two phases proved very popular with local residents, and we hope that many more will sign up for this latest scheme.

"Those who take part should see lower energy bills, while cutting carbon emissions and increasing local renewable energy generation.”

The scheme is administered by the group Solar Together.
