'Largest dinosaur race for 63 million years'

Organisers hail "largest dinosaur race for 63 million years"

More than 500 runners wearing inflatable Tyrannosaurus rex costumes battled blustery conditions to take part in a fun run for a Manx learning disability charity.

Organised by Expedition Limitless, participants walked, jogged or ran the 1.5-mile (2.5km) course on Douglas Promenade on Saturday.

About £12,000 was raised for Manx Mencap, taking the total raised for the charity by the team who recently kayaked hundreds of miles on a Canadian river in aid of the organisation to more than £120,000.

Team leader Martyn Malone said the spectacle and turnout had been "absolutely incredible". The event was "an unofficial world record for the largest T. rex race in 63 million years".
