Amateur photographers can submit up to three photos of wild birds taken this year

Wildlife photographers from Guernsey and beyond are being invited to submit their photos of wild birds to a contest.

Ornithology Guernsey, part of La Société Guernesiaise, has opened entries for its Winter 2024 Photographic Competition, which closes on 31 December.

The free competition is open to amateur photographers who can submit up to three photos of wild birds taken anywhere in the bailiwick this year.

La Société said the "key factor" the judging panel will look at is the subject of the photo, while "light and composition" will be secondary.

A selection of the top photos will be used in a YouTube video, while the overall winner will be presented with a canvas print of their photo at a special event in January.
