Road worker dies after multi-vehicle crash on A30
A road maintenance worker has died in hospital after a multi-vehicle crash on the A30 in Cornwall.
Police said the man in his 50s was from one of two highways maintenance vehicles involved in a crash with a heavy goods vehicle (HGV) on the west-bound carriageway near Launceston at about 07:30 GMT on Sunday.
The HGV driver, a 51-year-old man, was arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving, Devon and Cornwall Police said.
Another occupant of the road maintenance vans was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, the force added.
Police said the family of the man who died in hospital on Sunday evening was being supported by specialist officers.
The A30 was closed for a number of hours while an investigation and recovery work took place.
Police asked anyone with any information or dashcam footage of the crash, which took place near the Pennygillam slipway, to contact them.
