Kent Police are appealing for witnesses and dashcam footage to assist in their investigation

A man in his 40s has died after being hit by a car on a major road in Kent.

The incident happened at 18.28 GMT on Tuesday on the A2070 Bad Munstereifel Road in Ashford.

The crash took place on the northbound carriageway, which takes traffic towards Junctions 10 and 10A of the M20.

Emergency services attended and the pedestrian was pronounced dead.

The road was closed for several hours as investigations took place.

Kent Police are appealing for witnesses and dashcam footage to assist in their investigation.

Officers believe a driving instructor may have been in the area at the time, and may have relevant dashcam footage.
