M6 crash was 'like a bomb blast'

A woman who was caught up in a motorway crash which left nine people in hospital has said the collision felt "like a bomb going off".
Five people, including a six-year-old girl, were seriously injured in the crash involving four vehicles on the M6 southbound near Lancaster on Monday morning.
Julie Clark said she was driving to work when she saw the car in front of her struck by another vehicle.
She said she had to dodge debris before stopping on the hard shoulder in tears.
'Traumatised'
Ms Clark said one of the cars that was hit "shot in the air" and "the woman in front of me spun around".
"It was like a bomb went off. There was debris everywhere," she said.
She said she called 999 from the hard shoulder and was directed to drive the short way to Lancaster service station.
It was from here that she watched emergency helicopters, fire engines and police arrive and start "cutting all the cars to bits".
"I was in such shock, I was sobbing," she said, adding she was unable to go to help anyone because of how traumatised she was.
"It's just shocking and it's playing on my mind horribly," she said, adding that the experience has left her feeling "nervous" about driving on the motorway.
Nine people in total were hurt in the collision, including a one-year-old boy, with eight remaining in hospital.
But none is thought to have life-threatening injuries, Lancashire Police said.
Sgt Anthony Beckett said: "I would appeal to anyone who saw the collision itself, or the BMW driving prior to the collision, or who has any dashcam footage, to get in touch."
