Work is due to start on installing a new eco-friendly splash pad

A sustainable children's water play area with a recirculating splash pad and solar panels is to be built in Weybridge.

The eco-friendly facility will be installed at Churchfields recreation ground and will replace the existing paddling pool.

Elmbridge Borough Council said the play area will be fully open in spring 2025.

Councillor Simon Waugh, who is responsible for leisure services, said. “The eco-friendly approach for the splash pad reflects our commitment to a more sustainable use of resources while still delivering fun for children and families alike. ”

The council ran a consultation process in October 2022 to assess residents' views on future water play facilities in the borough.

Of those surveyed, 96% expressed support for water play options.
