The family of a man who died in a car crash near Stoke-on-Trent on Christmas Eve have paid tribute to him.

Charalambos Nicolaou, 62, from Cyprus, was visiting friends when he was involved in a serious collision involving a Vauxhall and a Hyundai, police said.

The crash happened on Uttoxeter Road in Draycott in the Moors at around 20:45 GMT, Staffordshire Police.

Mark Plimmer, 27, from Blythe Bridge, has been charged with causing death by dangerous driving and a number of other offences.

'Devastated'

In a tribute, Mr Nicolauo’s daughter said: "My beloved father was killed the day before Christmas. He was an amazing father, brother and a kind-hearted person that everyone loved.

"He was my whole world especially after my mother's death years ago. My father did not deserve to leave this world the way he did."

She said the family was devastated and that Christmas would never again feel great for them.
