A team of litter-pickers is looking for more volunteers to give a Shropshire landmark a spring clean.

More than 30 people went up the Wrekin last year and came back with 32 bin bags full of rubbish in just two hours.

Organiser Ruth Finney started the litter pick programme two years ago, but said "two hours isn't enough" to totally clear the hillside.

She said her volunteers had collected all sorts of items and in the first year they "found enough clothes to dress a person, including a pair of stilettos".

She said that last year they discovered a large number of car parts and a Fairy Liquid bottle from 1987.

Among the other items they found were 125 energy drink cans, 127 plastic water bottles, 180 beer cans, 25 dog poo bags, 10 takeaway food containers and four balloons.

But although she was enthusiastic about the work, she said: "It's hard when I go back a week later and [litter is] everywhere."

People wanting to take part in the Spring Trail Clean have been asked to meet at the Forest Glen car park between 09:30 and 10:30 GMT on Sunday.

Ms Finney said the litter picking would finish at 12:30 and the bags would then be left for Telford and Wrekin Council to take away.
