A discussion about assisted dying was held by Dartford MP Jim Dickson on Thursday evening, ahead of a parliamentary debate.

Speakers from Care Not Killing and Dignity In Dying presented arguments for and against changing the law at the event, with the location being disclosed to ticketholders only.

On Friday, the House of Commons will debate legislation that would give terminally ill adults in England and Wales the right to choose to end their lives.

"Ahead of the debate on the Bill in Parliament, I'm holding an event to hear from expert speakers on both sides of the debate as well as you, the constituents of Dartford," said Dickson on Thursday.

"This is a complex issue, so it's important to me that I hear the facts from experts and your views before the debate."

Dr Mark Pickering represented Care Not Killing and Simon Sanberg represented Dignity in Dying at the event.
