Council approves plans for 201 house development
Plans to build 201 new homes on fields in Coventry have been given the final go-ahead.
Developer Bellway Homes will build the houses on old green belt land off Tamworth Road in Keresley.
Coventry City Council approved the scheme despite some local objections, including 13 letters of opposition from residents.
Neighbours raised concerns about the impact on nature and how local services would cope.
Councillor Jaswant Singh Birdi also objected over “flawed” population figures, the distance of a woodland buffer and provision for site traffic.
Officers said only four of the objections raised any “material” concerns that would affect a decision.
These covered flooding, buses, fire access and a lack of any housing for older people.
But officers said the details of the scheme known as “reserved matters” complied with all the council’s policies and guidelines.
The report showed no authority had objected to the bid, subject to conditions.
