A man and a woman seen in a Tube station in central London at the time a man was killed could be key witnesses, police say.

British Transport Police said the pair "may have critical information which could assist the ongoing investigation" into the attack on Sam Winter at 21:30 BST on 22 August outside Southwark Tube station.

They asked for the pair, or anyone who recognised them, to get in touch, but stressed neither was suspected of criminal activity.

Mr Winter, 28, died in hospital two days after the attack and his family said they were "devastated" by the loss of a "very much-loved son, brother, grandson, cousin, nephew and friend".

Rakeem Miles, 23, of East Street, Southwark, has been charged with murder.

Temporary Det Sgt Tony Gittins, of British Transport Police, said: “We are releasing these images of two people thought to be witnesses in a murder investigation.

"I would like to stress these people are not suspected of any criminal activity but they may have important information that will help our investigation.

“If this is you, or you know anyone pictured, please text 61016 or call 0800 40 50 40 quoting reference 772 of 22 August."
