A pick-up truck driver has died in a crash in Staffordshire that also involved a tractor and a lorry.

The man in his 60s was confirmed dead at the scene, following the collision on Watling Street in Weeford, Lichfield, at about 16:45 GMT on Thursday.

A woman, who was hit by debris from the crash, was treated for minor injuries before being taken to Good Hope Hospital in Sutton Coldfield.

The drivers of the other vehicles, a blue Valtra tractor and a yellow articulated Volvo lorry, were not hurt.

West Midlands Ambulance Service said the lorry driver, a man, was assessed and discharged at the scene and the tractor driver did not wish to be assessed.

A spokesman said the pick-up truck driver was found to be in a critical condition and receiving basic life support from bystanders, including the fire service.

He added: "Ambulance staff quickly began administering advanced life support but sadly, despite everyone's best efforts, it became apparent nothing could be done to save him."

The Ford Ranger driver's family were being supported by specialist officers, Staffordshire Police said.
