Weight limits to stop traffic congestion in town

Weight limits could be introduced on a Lincolnshire road in an attempt to reduce traffic jams.
A Lincolnshire County Council meeting voted to impose a 7.5 tonne restriction between Brackenborough Road and Bolingbroke Road in Louth.
Councillors heard the new link road built for a housing development had caused congestion.
The new limit aims to reduce the number of large lorries entering the town.
Jeanne Gibson, leader for minor works and traffic at the council, told the meeting the developer was required to build the road as part of the housing scheme.
"This has provided an alternative route to the A16 and into the town centre," she said.
"This weight restriction would reduce the number of HGVs in the area."
According to the Local Democracy Reporting Service, Reform UK councillor Christopher Reeve said he thought the restriction was "a good idea".
"I support this proposal because it's human nature that lorry drivers will choose the shortest route into the town," he added.
The proposal will now be passed to the executive councillor for highways and transport for approval.
