A number of dead or diseased trees were found to be at risk of falling onto the road

Part of a coast road in the west of the Isle of Man has been closed for emergency tree felling to remove some at risk of falling on to the carriageway.

The A4 Peel to Kirk Michael Road, from Douglas Road Corner in Kirk Michael to the junction with the Balleigh Road, has been closed until 15:30 GMT.

The Department of Infrastructure said a recent inspection found there were several dead or diseased trees in the area of the Glen Wyllin and Cooil Dharry junction.

Traffic has been diverted onto the A3 Ramsey to Castletown Road, Cronk Y Voddy, Ballig and Poortown Road.

Access for vehicles to and from Cooil Dharry is in place through the Peel side of the works.
