White tiger dies days before 20th birthday
A white tiger has died of "age-related health issues", West Midlands Safari Park has said.
The attraction in Bewdley, Worcestershire, announced the death of Ben on social media and asked visitors to share their photos of him.
Ben, who was born at the park and would have turned 20 on Friday, was described as a "playful and feisty character" known for chasing the park vehicles "knowing that food was on its way".
"He will be deeply missed by all who have cared for him over the years," the park said.
In 2022, a malignant melanoma was found on Ben's right eyelid, which resulted in his eye being removed.
Although he had recovered from surgery, staff had noticed "he had slowed down, and age-related health issues had finally caught up with him".
Head of carnivores Kasha Carter said: "Ben has been a long-time favourite with guests and staff at West Midlands Safari Park and he will be sorely missed."
