The family of a man who died after his scooter crashed with a car have described him in a tribute as "larger than life".

West Midlands Ambulance Service said the crash happened at about 13:45 GMT on Sunday near the junction of Steenwood Lane and the B5013 in Blithfield, Admaston, Staffordshire.

Darren John Dunning, 53, was discovered by crews in a critical condition and was pronounced dead at the scene.

In a tribute released on Wednesday, his family said he was an "amazing, unique, larger-than-life character" who "gained his angel wings far too soon".

The tribute continued: "He will be greatly missed by his loving wife, four children, granddaughter, sister, his amazing family and his many friends."

Police are appealing to anyone with any information or relevant CCTV, dashcam or doorbell footage of the area at the time of the crash.
