Teen jailed after being found with machete in taxi
A teenager has been jailed a day after he was caught with a machete in Nottingham.
Mohammed Moussa was in a taxi with another man which was stopped by police in Whitechapel Street, Basford, on Tuesday.
He was found to have a sheathed machete concealed inside his waistband.
The 19-year-old, of Blundell Close, Nottingham, pleaded guilty to possessing a knife in a public place and was jailed for eight months at Nottingham Magistrates' Court on Wednesday.
Laquarne Fogo, 20, of Cameron Road, Derby, who was found with a lock knife, admitted the same offence and will be sentenced later this month.
PC Ken Tinley, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: "This proactive vehicle stop has allowed us to seize and destroy two blades, and place two knife carriers before the courts.
"This is exactly the sort of outcome the knife crime team was established to achieve.
"As this incident also highlights it can very quickly lead to you being put behind bars."
