Man hit by car while crossing road dies

A man in his 50s has died after being struck by a car as he crossed a road.
Hertfordshire Police said the collision happened in St Albans Road, Hemel Hempstead, at about 23:15 GMT on Friday.
A second pedestrian was also hurt and taken to hospital with injuries not believed to be life-threatening.
A 22-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving in connection with the incident.
Police said a blue Renault Megane hit the two pedestrians as it was being driven south-west on St Albans Road.
Officers have appealed for any witnesses to get in contact.
